Abstract
Perkutana endoskopska gastrostoma je metoda uvođenja sonde koja služi za hranjenje kroz trbušnu stjenku upotrebom gastroskopa i na taj način se obavi lakše hranjenje bolesnika. Prvu PEG sondu pomoću endoskopa su učinili Gauderer i Ponsky 1980. godine bez upotrebe laparotomije. Kroz 40 godina postojanja ovakva vrsta enteralne prehrane, sve je više u upotrebi i raste vrlo velikom brzinom. Primjenjuje se kod osoba koje boluju od CVI, orofaringealnih bolesti, Parkinsonove bolesti, kod trovanja lužinama i kiselinama. Medicinsko osoblje mora biti educirano i kompetentno u radu s bolesnikom kojem je implantirana perkutana endoskopska gastrostoma kroz sestrinske intervencije. Unosom nutrijenata putem enteralne prehrane sprečava se pothranjenost, gubitak na tjelesnoj težini te se poboljšava kvaliteta života. PEG sonda je vrlo sigurna i korisna metoda.
